BRISBANE GASTRIC BANDING CENTRE - The Brisbane Gastric Banding Centre
is devoted to the surgical management of morbid obesity. The clinic relies on up-to-
date information, skills and techniques to apply the procedure of laparoscopic gastric banding to suitable patients with morbid obesity. The procedure of laparoscopic
adjustable gastric banding is the most proven and least complicated procedure
available for the management of morbid obesity

Our team aims to provide all patients with a warm and friendly environment to
obtain the information that they need to make the decision to proceed with this
surgery. Patients' initial contact is with Lorraine Searles who is our Practice
Manager.

Our Nursing Team consists of Pam Baxter and Fiona McMillan who both provide
valuable nursing support with initial assessment as well as an initial consultation
and provision of the information required.

The next step is to see the Surgeon, Dr George Hopkins, who will explain in detail
the mechanism of action, the success that has been had with this band and the
potential problems that can occur. Dr George Hopkins has enormous experience
in this procedure and provides very diligent and on-going post-operative follow-
up care, in close association with your Referring Practitioner.

Ms Rachel Moore and Margaret Brooke are our Clinic Dietitians who provide vital information to patients concerning the dietary requirements entailed in living with
a gastric band.

The important ethos' of the clinic is that all patients become our ongoing concern

record keeping is adhered to and the patient's aspirations are kept in mind.
